Twenty-one years ago, I joined a club that issues no membership card, but which functions as a central force in adult social life. It's the club of Being a Couple.
Every morning my five-year-old son wakes up and asks, "What's fun today?" He wants to know if we're going on an outing, or playing with a friend, or seeing Grandma.
This summer I resigned from my job and hit the road on a grand bike touring adventure.
